Early this morning, it was early- even the sun was still sleeping, Timothy came to my room and said mom wake up. He says he has a cough and needs to snuggle. Snuggle for him means hold me tight and cover me with a comfortable blanket. We went downstairs to avoid waking the family. I turned on a small lamp and held Timothy and rocked him. At this point I looked at the clock 3:25. So I am holding him and rocking him. I close my eyes. I am quickly woken by little fingers (2 of them) in my nose. Mom, mom, wake up your nose is crooked. I am awake from this uncomfortable encounter. I told him, no it is fine - go to sleep. We continue rocking and he sits up quickly and says crooked noses are not good. At this point there will be no more rest until we look at the nose. We go to the bathroom and look in the mirror. I show him the nostrils are are not the same but the nose is not crooked. He says mom, look at your eyes they are red -are you cross? I told him they are red because they need sleep. He says in his very serious voice. Why aren't you sleeping then. We head back to the rocker and snuggle. After we are settle in he says are you sleeping. My response- not yet.
